All The Major Arcana cycles and merges the Elements in endless patterns, rhythms, and proportions, and in all possible interactions. Truly understanding all four Elements occurs when we see beyond each individual Element, through to their relationships with each other. Each Major contains one, two, three, or all four Elements, with two cards that have no Element at all: The Void and Death. These combinations support, enhance, reduce, block, modulate, or otherwise influence how Elements interact — some qualities are revealed as others are concealed. The essence of each Major is communicated through aspects of these Elemental interactions. Majors emphasize Elements that are present within spreads, and even when Majors are absent, the Elemental combination can reveal the corresponding Major's influence. Observe how these interactions define and refine which aspects of each Element requires attention. Think of each interaction as neither positive nor negative, as each combination enhances or reduces different Elemental qualities — oppositional Elements can be harmoniously complimentary or directly conflictive, and concordant Elements may exacerbate their worst qualities or strengthen their best assets. These combinations express the complexity that are the interactions of life.
